Scored once the week's and winners are known (they are safe and left out), but without this week's , which would give the answer away. Only things that already happened count. Ties are listed A to Z. A vote counts toward the hit rate when more than 5 people were at risk and at least one of them had a score.

Big Brother words

What this shows: Every term used on this page, in plain English. Tap an underlined word anywhere to see its meaning.

All the rules →
Jury
Players knocked out late in the game. They stay on to watch the rest of it, and at the finale they vote for who wins. Rules →
Finalist
One of the last two or three players, who face the jury's vote for the win. Rules →
Returning player
Someone who had already played the show (or the other show) before this season.
Boot
Fan slang for a player being voted out or evicted. "First boot" means the first person out. Rules →
Blindside
A player is voted out without seeing it coming, usually because their allies voted against them. Rules →
Confessionalthe edit
A short interview to camera, away from the other players, cut into the episode. Fans count them to see whose story the editors are telling.
HouseguestHG
What Big Brother calls its players. They live together in a house filled with cameras. Rules →
Head of HouseholdHOH
The week's boss, decided by a competition. The HOH can't be nominated, only votes to break a tie, and picks who goes on the block. Rules →
Nominationson the block
The players the HOH puts at risk of eviction that week. Being nominated is called being "on the block". Rules →
Power of VetoPOV
Won in a competition. The holder can take one nominee off the block, or choose not to use it. Using it is the week's big decision. Rules →
Replacement nomineerenom
When the Veto saves someone, a new player goes on the block in their place. Usually the HOH chooses. Rules →
Backdoor
A plan to evict someone who wasn't nominated at first: they only go on the block as the replacement after the Veto is used, so they can't play for it. Rules →
Eviction
The live vote that sends someone home. Each eligible houseguest secretly votes for one nominee to evict. Rules →
Against the house
A vote for the nominee who stayed. The majority picked the other person, so this voter was on the losing side, often a sign they're outside the main alliance.
Double eviction
Two full weeks of the game squeezed into one live show, so two people leave the same night. Rules →
Tie-break vote
If the eviction vote is tied, the HOH breaks the tie by voting. Rules →
Sole vote
With four players left, only the Veto holder votes. They alone decide who leaves.
Final HOH
The last HOH competition, played in three parts. The winner takes one person to the end and evicts the other. Rules →
Have-Not
A houseguest stuck with cold showers, a hard bed and bland food for the week, usually after losing a competition. Rules →
America's Favorite PlayerAFP
A separate prize chosen by viewers at home, not by the players. Rules →
Block Buster
A competition for the HOH's nominees, played before the Veto. Whoever wins is saved and comes off the block.
Battle of the BlockBOTB
Used in weeks with two HOHs. Each HOH's pair of nominees compete; the winning pair comes off the block and the HOH who nominated them loses their HOH power.
Triple eviction
Three full rounds of the game played back to back in one live show, so three people leave the same night.
Veto players
The six people who compete for the Power of Veto: the HOH, the nominees, and others picked by random draw.
Banishment
Big Brother 1's version of eviction. Houseguests nominated each other, then viewers voted by phone on which nominee had to leave.
Public vote
A vote by viewers at home rather than by the players, used for Big Brother 1's evictions and winner.
Re-entry twistbattle back
A one-off twist that lets an evicted houseguest earn their way back into the house, through a competition or a vote.
Team or partner phase
Some seasons start with houseguests tied to a partner, team or group, so wins, nominations and evictions can apply to more than one person at once.
Twist
A rule change for one season or one week, such as an extra competition, a secret power or a returning player.
Walked
Left the game by choice, without being evicted.
Expelled
Removed from the game by the producers for breaking the rules, with no vote.
Pre-jury
Players who left before the jury phase began. They do not vote for the winner.
